i thought the 99 names were revealed in Holy Quran..for instance “Ali” is mentioned in Surah Luqman (31:30), Surah An Nisa (4:34), Surah Ash Shura (42:4) and (42:51)…
But if Ali (R A) were named after Allah mian, these names got to be there in other revealed books as well, right??

  18. SAWJ says:

Nope. You won’t find the names Muhammad, Ali, Hasan and Husain anywhere before these personalities came to this world. They are the extreme forms of their roots.

Allah calls himself Ahmad but he named his Prophet, Muhammad. He calls himself Aala, but he named his Wali, Ali. He calls himself Fatir-us-Samawat-e-Wal-Arz but he named the Lady of Paradise, Fatimah. He calls himself Mohsin and Qadeem-ul-Ehsaan, but he named the Masters of Paradise, Hasan and Husain.

Hazrat Ali is present in other books, with different names. Socrates knew him by the name Haider. Abraham knew him by the name Aeli. Which resulted in the name Ismail, or Isma-Aeli, meaning “Name of Aeli”. :D

Don’t ask me where I learned this from! :P

  19. Pinky says:

i wasnt going to ask ;)
n SAWJ u are really close to getting stoned by the mob…first u said Prophet named hm Ali…then u said God named him Ali…err Ali (RA) was born approximtely 29/30 yrs before Muhammad (PBUH) received first revelation at age of 40, how did he know what to name him as per Allah’s command?

  20. Pinky says:

plzzz do forgive my Inquisitiveness..drawback of having a cop for a dad :D

  21. SAWJ says:

Ali was ten when the first revelation came, and present in the cave of Hira!

The Prophet was created before everything. He already had knowledge of all, only declared his prophethood when he was 40, and that too secretly at first.

And as we are discussing names, how did Hazrat Abdul Muttalib know how to name him Muhammad? :D

  22. SAWJ says:

Your dad is nothing compared to my grandfather. He’s a lawyer. I’m trained to handle questions. ;)

  23. Pinky says:

hey my dad was also a lawyer once…so my dad wins
n yeah you are right,… Hazrat amna saw the dream or got the feeling from some err divine source n then shared it with her father-in law..or was it the other way round?

  24. Pinky says:

n i made a mistake…the age difference between Prophet n Ali (RA) is 29 or 30 yrs…Ali was born 10 yrs bfore first wahi

  25. SAWJ says:

30 years. Don’t know about the details of a dream but it is always the elder who names in the Bani Hashim (A.S.). :D

  26. Pinky says:

err is main bateesi dikhanay wali konsi baat hai?

  27. Pinky says:

    umm, meri caste? :P

  28. Pinky says:

ohhh nothing i failed…now just tell

  29. SAWJ says:

How did Hazrat Abdul Muttalib (A.S.) come to know of the Prophet’s (S.A.W.W.) name?

  30. Pinky says:

from the same source Who revealed Aab e zamzam’s location to him….

  31. SAWJ says:

The question is: Was Abdul Muttalib a common man? ;)

  32. Pinky says:

mujhe kia pata…lagtay tu nahin hain waisay…anyway there was nothing to smirk abt ,in this whole episode..m feeling like breaking ur incisors and premolars

  33. SAWJ says:
