Hoping to be human someday!

There’s something good about us…

I was asked to write on the topic

There’s something good about us…

Well i would like to recall here two incidents showing that there is indeed good about us, among us, within us! These incidents did not occur with me but they show the love and humanity in us as a nation.

**************

On May 7, 2004, congregational Friday prayers were being offered in Masjid-e-Hyderi belonging to the Shia sect, inside Sindh Madrassah-tul-Islam, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s alma mater.

Suddenly, there was a blast inside the mosque, killing and injuring many.

The blast was heard in a neighboring Sunni Barelvi masjid. The Imam of that masjid addressed the gathering to leave their prayers immediately and to rush and help their Shia brethren.

The death toll in this blast was 25, with 100 injured. This was the first big blast in a series which would haunt the country for the next 3 years.

**************

On May 30th, 2005, two more bombers tried to enter the Imambargah-e-Madina-tul-Ilm during Maghrib prayers. The Sunni policemen posted at the gates tried to stop them. Upon resistance, one bomber opened fire. In the gun battle that ensued, one bomber and two policemen died. The other bomber managed to enter and blew himself up.

The two Sunni policemen gave their lives in the line of duty, to protect the citizens of Pakistan, irrespective of cast, color or creed.

**************

Forget your sects, forget your nationalities, put everything aside for the sake of your country. Learn something from the example above, set by the Imam of the masjid, the worshippers and the two policemen. May Allah bless them for their good deeds, in the name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) and His Family (A.S.)!

Hmmm …. ironically I feel sad.

There should not have been a time when we would feel strange at such happenings. It should be weaved in our hearts, the binding.

    Makes me sad,,,, really.

Differences between sects existed before the creation of Pakistan. After it’s independence, they should have been put in the closet.

There are a lot of things good about us, we only have to bring them to light! Channels like Geo definitely do not serve this purpose!

    • SAWJ says:

      Geo has a purpose?

Oh yes, to malign Musharraf! :P
We are one big complaining nation. What we have to do is stop the complaining and do it all ourselves instead of blaming the government.

how come I never saw this one before ! . There are very few ppl who can look beyond the stereotypical orientation of the society . A person who judges others has no time to love them !

    • SAWJ says:

We don’t have good teachers in our society who can educate the nation. Passing judgments without knowledge is a part of our nature now.

  4. Sana says:

True but a lot of us have also lost our tolerance to extract good out of everyday life . We are surrounded by negativity ! . Accusing and slandering baselessly and learning nothing .I really appreciate you taking the initiative and writing the post it sends out msgs in bold that we are indeed all one .Dividing amongst each other has only weakened us and will continue to do so . it is as painful to hera about a bombing in imam bargah as it is in a mosque .
I dont remember praying as much as I did in Muharram to prevent bombings knowing that if GOG FORBID there was one a lot of our shiite brothers would suffer.

    • SAWJ says:

It’s always sad to hear about a bombing and it’s even sadder to see the media hawks cashing in on the dead bodies.

These Taliban are our enemies. I just can’t understand why people are stupid enough to call them ‘their Muslim brothers’. The Taliban definitely don’t have the same feelings about them.
