Finally some good news:
Work begins at Iraqi shrine bombed in ‘06
BAGHDAD — The Iraqi government announced Wednesday that it’s taken initial steps to rebuild the famed Golden Dome shrine in Samarra, whose destruction two years ago helped unleash sectarian warfare between Iraq’s Sunni and Shiite Muslims.
It will be years before the shrine, which for nearly a millennium had been a focal point of Shiite worship, is restored. But Gen. Rashid Felaiyah, the Interior Ministry’s commander of operations in Samarra, said workers had begun going through the rubble of the mosque Monday in search of historically significant pieces that should be incorporated into the rebuilding. Before Bombing in 2006

After bombing in 2006 but before the second bombing in 2007

Ahh, but look what they’ve done already
Uh…who’s done what already?
America … and the condition of Iraq now.
The scenes when they initiated bombing are still alive in my mind..!
The pictures you’ve pasted above are no less self-explanatory..!
I’m certainly not going to praise America but you have to hand it to them that they have shown more respect to the Holy places in Iraq than Muslims themselves. I still remember the standoff that took place between Muqtada Al-Sadr troops and the coalition forces in Najaf when Muqtada’s army hid in the shrine of Hazrat Ali(A.S.)
Being Non-Muslims and having no attachment to the shrine, I expected the Americans to attack the shrine. And being a Muslim, a Shia at that, and having a strong attachment to the shrine, I expected Muqtada to protect it. But the opposite happened.
The Americans surrounded the shrine but did not attack. And Muqtada’s army hid inside! That coward, instead of trying to save the shrine, tried to save his own neck. He should have stayed far away from it in order to save it from any harm from gun fight. The Americans waited patiently outside for a month until Ayatullah Sistani came to negotiate a deal between the two sides.
As for the Samarrah shrine martyrdom, that was Muslim work. We can’t criticize the West, we have to look at our own society first. We are destroying our own religion.
We are giving an impression that our society is not a peaceful one, with all the suicide bombings and “jihad” going on. We are disrespecting our own religion first!
