25th Muharram marks the martyrdom anniversary of Husain’s eldest son, Ali Zain-ul-Abideen, the only surviving man from Husain’s side in the battle of Karbala. He was sick at the time of the battle, therefore, didn’t take part in it.
He was poisoned by Waleed, son of Abdul Malik on the 25th of Muharram, 95 Hijri.
